Alias Words is operated by World of IT d.o.o., Croatia (“Alias Words”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).

We want this Privacy Policy to explain, in plain language, what information Alias Words uses, why we use it, who may receive it, and what choices you have.

This Privacy Policy applies to the Alias Words mobile application, our website, and related online services.

1. Who is responsible for your data?

For the purposes of applicable privacy laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”), the controller of your personal data is:

2. What information do we collect?

The information we process depends on how you use Alias Words.

Account information

If you create or use an account, we may receive basic account information from the sign-in provider you choose, such as:

• a unique user identifier;
• your name or display name;
• your email address, where made available by the provider;
• basic profile information.

On supported devices, authentication may be provided through services such as Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In.

We do not receive or store your Apple ID or Google account password.

Game and app activity

We may process information about how the app is used, such as:

• game mode used;
• decks opened or played;
• app sessions;
• completed rounds;
• feature usage;
• general interaction with the app;
• technical events;
• subscription or purchase status.

For ordinary local gameplay, game content such as your words, team names, scores and round results is not uploaded to our servers unless a feature specifically requires online storage or you choose to share that information.

Online Play and Challenge Mode

When you use online multiplayer, Challenge Mode, or another online feature, we may process information necessary to provide that feature, including:

• your account or player identifier;
• game session information;
• invitations;
• connection information;
• player status;
• video or audio communication where the feature includes live communication;
• technical information needed to establish and maintain the session.

Audio and video used for live communication may be transmitted through third-party communication infrastructure necessary to provide the feature.

We do not use private live calls for advertising.

Camera and microphone

Certain features may require access to your device camera or microphone.

Examples include:

• video communication;
• recording game moments or replays;
• dual-camera recording;
• voice-related gameplay features.

Camera and microphone access is used only after permission is granted through your device.

You can revoke these permissions at any time through your device settings, although doing so may prevent some features from working.

Speech recognition

Some Alias Words features may offer speech or voice recognition.

The exact processing method may depend on your device, operating system and the speech-recognition technology provided by the platform.

Where speech recognition is performed by Apple, Google or another operating-system provider, their own privacy practices may apply.

We do not use speech recordings to build advertising profiles.

Replays and “Share with Alias”

Alias Words may allow you to create a replay or video and optionally submit it to us through a feature such as Share with Alias.

Submitting a replay to us is optional.

If you submit a replay, it may contain:

• video;
• audio;
• your voice;
• your image;
• usernames or player names;
• other people appearing in the recording.

We may review submitted replays and, where appropriate, use selected submissions to promote Alias Words, including on:

• our website;
• social media accounts;
• app-store listings;
• advertisements;
• other Alias Words promotional channels.

By submitting a replay, you confirm that:

1. you are allowed to submit the recording;
2. every identifiable person appearing in the recording has agreed that the recording may be submitted and used for the purposes described above; and
3. the recording does not violate another person’s rights.

You grant World of IT d.o.o. a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to reproduce, edit, crop, format, publish and display the submitted replay for the purpose of promoting Alias Words.

You may contact us at aliaswordsapp@gmail.com if you want us to stop using a submitted replay in future promotional material.

We will make reasonable efforts to stop future use after receiving a valid request. Material already published, distributed or incorporated into an existing campaign may not always be capable of being immediately withdrawn.

3. Technical information

When you use Alias Words, we or our service providers may automatically receive technical information such as:

• device type;
• operating system;
• app version;
• language;
• country or approximate region;
• IP address;
• device or advertising identifiers where permitted;
• crash information;
• diagnostic information;
• network and performance information.

We use this information to operate the app, diagnose problems, prevent abuse and understand how Alias Words is used.

4. Analytics

We may use analytics services such as Google Firebase to understand how users interact with Alias Words.

Analytics may help us understand things such as:

• which features are used;
• how often the app is opened;
• whether users experience crashes;
• which versions of the app are in use;
• general engagement with game modes and decks.

We use this information to improve Alias Words, fix bugs and make product decisions.

Where consent is required by applicable law, analytics technologies that require consent will only be used after consent has been obtained.

5. Advertising

The free version of Alias Words may display advertising.

Advertising may be provided through third-party advertising services such as:

• Google AdMob;
• Unity Ads;
• other advertising or mediation providers that we may add in the future.

Depending on your location, device settings and consent choices, advertising providers may process information such as:

• device identifiers;
• advertising identifiers;
• IP address;
• approximate location;
• app activity;
• ad impressions;
• clicks;
• technical information.

Where required by law, personalized advertising is shown only after the required consent has been obtained.

If you do not consent to personalized advertising, you may still see contextual or non-personalized ads.

You may also be able to limit ad tracking through your iOS or Android privacy settings.

6. Purchases and subscriptions

Alias Words may offer:

• premium decks;
• removal of advertising;
• one-time purchases;
• subscriptions;
• other paid features.

Payments are processed by the relevant app-store provider, such as Apple App Store or Google Play.

We do not receive your full credit-card or payment-card details.

We may receive information confirming:

• whether a purchase was completed;
• which product was purchased;
• subscription status;
• expiry or renewal status;
• transaction identifiers needed to verify purchases.

7. Why do we use your information?

We may use personal information to:

• provide Alias Words and its features;
• authenticate users;
• provide online multiplayer and Challenge Mode;
• enable live audio or video communication;
• process and restore purchases;
• provide customer support;
• improve game features and usability;
• analyze app performance;
• fix crashes and technical problems;
• prevent abuse, fraud or misuse;
• display advertising;
• comply with legal obligations;
• enforce our Terms of Use;
• promote Alias Words when you voluntarily submit content for promotional use.

8. Legal bases under GDPR

If the GDPR applies to you, we rely on different legal bases depending on the processing activity.

Performance of a contract

We process information when it is necessary to provide the service you requested, for example:

• creating and maintaining an account;
• providing online gameplay;
• processing game invitations;
• enabling purchased features;
• restoring purchases.

Consent

We rely on consent where appropriate, including for activities such as:

• personalized advertising where consent is required;
• optional promotional replay submissions;
• certain analytics or tracking technologies where consent is required;
• access to camera, microphone or similar device permissions.

You may withdraw your consent at any time.

Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before consent was withdrawn.

• live video and audio communication;

• Google / Firebase;
• Google AdMob;
• Unity;
• Stream;
• Apple;
• Google Play.

These companies process information under their own privacy policies and contractual obligations.

We do not sell your personal information to data brokers.

10. International data transfers

Some of our service providers operate internationally.

As a result, information may be processed in countries outside Croatia or outside the European Economic Area.

Where required by applicable law, international transfers are protected using appropriate safeguards, such as:

• adequacy decisions;
• Standard Contractual Clauses;
• other legally recognized transfer mechanisms.

11. How long do we keep information?

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.

The retention period depends on the type of information.

For example:

• account information may be retained while your account remains active;
• purchase records may be retained where required for accounting, fraud prevention or legal obligations;
• analytics and diagnostic information is retained according to the settings and retention periods of the relevant service;
• security records may be retained for a reasonable period to detect or investigate abuse;
• promotional replays may be retained until they are no longer needed for the stated promotional purpose or until you request that we stop using them.

When information is no longer required, we delete it or anonymize it where reasonably possible.

12. Account deletion

You can request deletion of your Alias Words account and associated personal data.

Where available, account deletion may also be initiated directly from the app.

When an account is deleted, we will delete or anonymize personal information associated with the account unless we are required or permitted to retain certain information for purposes such as:

• legal obligations;
• fraud prevention;

Information that has been fully anonymized may no longer be associated with your account and may therefore be retained.

13. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• obtain information about how your personal data is processed;

• request correction of inaccurate information;
• request deletion of your personal data;
• request restriction of processing;
• object to certain processing;

14. Children

Alias Words is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13.

Children under 13 should not:

• create an Alias Words account;
• use online communication features;
• use Challenge Mode;
• submit replays to us.

Some game content, such as a Junior deck, may be suitable for families or younger players when played together with adults. The existence of such content does not mean that Alias Words is designed as a service directed specifically to children.

If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child in violation of applicable law, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

15. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed through Alias Words.

However, no online service can guarantee absolute security.

You are responsible for protecting access to your device and any third-party account you use to sign in.

Alias Words may contain links to external websites or services.

Their privacy practices are governed by their own privacy policies, not this Privacy Policy.

17. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when:

• Alias Words changes;
• we introduce new features;
• our service providers change;
• applicable legal requirements change.
